Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Fri, March 19, 2004 - 9:56 AMC'mon - how can ya call yourself a zombie-killer if ya don't have a shotgun to take down the undead??
Everyone needs a Boom-Stick! -

Fri, March 19, 2004 - 2:06 PMWhat works better on the undead, slugs or shot?
A nice Benelli M4 should do it. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Fri, March 19, 2004 - 3:17 PMHmmm - I'd say shot would work best in the "slowing 'em down" type phase. Although slugs are wonderful for the "blow thru" effect and getting a lot of 'em at once when they're en-masse. I'd say keep a long barrelled pump action full of shot and a short barrel full of slugs when things start to get REALLY hairy. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Wed, June 23, 2004 - 7:45 AMthe thing about zombies is usually you just have to get a good head shot, so i would think although the mass of shotgun ammo would help knock them down and dealy them, you would want something accurate for the stopping head shots. like a rifle or handgun.

Based on my perusal of AOD, I would venture tha buckshot works quite nice. And you don't need an M4; a short double barrel seems to work fine.
"Now I swear, if one of you primates so much as touches me..." BOOM!
"Good...bad...I'm the guy with the gun."
heh heh, you gotta love AOD. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Thu, June 24, 2004 - 10:05 AMWell, as classic as it is to take on zombies with a short-double barrel (believe me, I *have* a short-double which I lovingly refer to as my "Zombie-Killer") ...there's something to be said 'bout not needing to RELOAD the sucker every other shot. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Fri, June 25, 2004 - 4:56 PMOf course a double is slow! What did you think the chain saw was for? -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Fri, June 25, 2004 - 6:27 PMI thought that was for killing witches. They aren't undead. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Mon, June 28, 2004 - 6:30 AMi thought the army of darkness shotgun was a matter of availability, it was what he had in his department store... if i were making a choice for zombie gun with a wide choice of modern guns, it would definitely be a high magazine capacity, accurate, rifle...
as many head shots as possible! -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Mon, June 28, 2004 - 11:01 AMThe shotgun in Army of Darkness was the gun that he picked up at the cabin during the first two "Evil Dead" films.

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Mon, July 5, 2004 - 12:44 AMok... my memory is terrible but the point remains that it was a matter of availability, not choosing the best weapon for zombies...

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Mon, June 28, 2004 - 11:05 AMYes - but in for "practical" usage - a chainsaw is a pretty piss-poor weapon.
It's BULKY / HEAVY for one thing - most chainsaws *I've* seen aren't easy to "swing" or very well balanced. Not to mention that most chainsaws (unless ya get into the REALLY high end competitive chop-saws & the like) are fairly easily fouled and will stop/stall-out a lot.
Personally - I'd use a shotgun and or a flamethrower... and if I had one... a grenade launcher. **smiles** ...keep those suckers BACK!!! -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Wed, June 30, 2004 - 12:43 PMHow'd Ash get the chainsaw to stay on his arm?
If I had to fight zombies, I'd use a lawn mower! -

Wed, June 30, 2004 - 10:19 PMThere are some things that belt fed, full auto weapons are just MADE for...

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Mon, July 5, 2004 - 8:53 AMWell - they psuedo-scienced this one...
He basically had it strapped to the stump of his forearm - using belts to tie it in place.

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Tue, September 28, 2004 - 12:22 AMSince a head.shot is the best place to kill a zombie, why not an AR loaded with thin.jacketed varmint bullets? That should blow 'em apart just they do on rodents. I don't believe there's any Hague Convention requiring fmj.s on night creatures. -

Re: Dawn of the Dead......
Thu, November 29, 2007 - 3:34 PMNah, 12 gauge is the only way to go when handling non-stationary corpses.
And if I know my zombie movie trivia, any double-barrel will give you around 6-8 shots before a reload is needed. That's a distinct advantage over a standard 870, plus stagecoaches look so much cooler.
